Press Coverage 2008
26 Sep 2008 - - Straits Times - A Syria-Israel peace deal? Yes, no, maybe...
Speaking at a recent security conference in Geneva organised by the International Institute for Strategic Studies, Major-General Giora Eiland - formerly the director of Israel's National Security Council - pooh-poohed the significance of Israeli-Syrian rapprochement. Such a deal will not solve Israel's problems with Iran, Lebanon and Hizbollah, he said. Most importantly, it will not help resolve the long-running Israeli-Palestinian issue. Speaking to 400 participants at Global Strategic Review (GSR)
19 Sep 2008 - - Middle East Times - Iraq: A Precarious Peace
But "the Iraqi people fought back against crisis after crisis," the foreign minister told a small group of journalists, including the Middle East Times, during a meeting in Geneva last weekend on the sidelines of a conference organized by the International Institute for Strategic Studies.

But during the 30 minutes or so the Iraqi foreign minister spent briefing us he divulged nothing that we really did not already know. As
16 Sep 2008 - - Washington Times - Peace with Palestinians should be priority for Israel
"The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is one that everyone wants to solve," said Maj. Gen. Giora Eiland, former director of Israel's National Security Council, addressing last weekend a symposium on conflict resolution organized by the London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies in Geneva.
15 Sep 2008 - - Bernama - Global Economy Needs New Int'l Cooperation Framework, Says Tony Tan
Government of Singapore Investment Corporation deputy chairman Dr Tony Tan said the current international system for conflict resolution had been eroded by the recent lack of coherent international leadership from developed economies. The post-World War II and United Nations-centered institutions and fora were also biased towards developed countries, Tan told the International Institute for Strategic Studies' 50th Anniversary Conference in Geneva, Switzerland, yesterday. The text of his speech was releas
